Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

Softball tryouts will be Wednesday after school until 4:30. You must bring a glove to tryouts.

JNHS will have a mandatory meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 sharp.

NY/Philadelphia trip 2nd payment due Thursday, December 1st.

Girls soccer practice today until 4:45.

SOCCER NEWS
Congratulations to the Lady Colonels soccer team for their victory over Calhoun 6-0. The Lady Colonels played outstanding defense led by Sierra Smith, Kristen Brodnex, Holly Cook, Iris Tuttle, and Ashley Warden.

Boys soccer team beat Calhoun 6-0. Scorers were Samer Mahgoub, Terrel Whitaker, Nic Antis, Seth Whiteman

BASKETBALL NEWS

WAY TO PLAY BALL LADY COLONELS!
7th grade team won 34-12
Everybody on the team had a part in the victory. Leading scorers were Savannah Dollar and Kiley Ray with 8 points each.
8th grade team won 46-4
Leading scorers were Brandy Williams with 14 points and Savannah Dollar with 11 points.
Most Rebounds - Savannah Dollar
Best Defensive Player - Brandy Williams

7th Grade Boys defeated Riser 26-19.
8th Grade Boys lost 52-45.
Jeffrey Fuller led all scorers with 16 points.

BASKETBALL NEWS
7th Grade Boys Defeated West Ridge 27-6. Great Team Effort Colonels!!!

8th Grade Boys won 45-25. LaDarrin Williams led all scorers with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Logan Dopson led the team with 6 steals. Way to go Colonels!!!!

Lady Colonels won both basketball games against West Ridge.
7th Grade Score: 20-12. Leading scorer was Savannah Dollar with 10.
8th grade score: 28-13. Leading scorers were Kate Durham with 13 and Brandy Williams with 10. Leading rebounder was Tiffany Robinson.

Congratulations to the Good Hope Band Members who participated in the Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, Nov. 5th. Our band students earned 107 medals for Superior ratings at the festival - 10 more than last year, and the highest number from any school!!!! Great Job Band!!!!

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are due Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.

Pep Squad - Blue Team cheers @ the basketball game Thurs. night. Be in the stands in full uniform for roll call at 5:30. Parent pick-up is at 7:00.

Congratulations boys soccer team. GHMS is undefeated the first week of the season.
Tues., Nov., 8th GHMS beat Ruston 8 - 0
Thurs., Nov., 10th GHMS beat Ouachita 3 - 1 with the following scoring: Nick Antis, Seth Whiteman, & Samer Mahgoub
The boys play again at Ouachita, tomorrow, Nov. 15th.

Congratulations to the Lady Colonels Soccer Team on their win over Ouachita 5-0. The Lady Colonels were led by Layci Gray (1 goal & 1 assist), Jessica Bird (2 goals), Emily Hinton (1 goal & 1 assist), Megan Moore (1 goal), Emily Christiansen (1 assist) and Caroline Milford (shutout as goalie). The next game in on Tuesday at Ouachita Jr. High.

We want to recognize a good effort by the Lady Colonels girls soccer team in their 4-5 loss to Ruston on Tuesday. The Lady Colonels were led by Jessica Bird (3 goals), Laci Gray (1 goal and 2 assists) and Megan Moore (1 assist). They will play Ouachita Junior High on Thursday right after school at Good Hope. Make sure to come out and support the Lady Colonels soccer team.

GHMS has had a re-count in the canned food drive. The winning homeroom is Mrs. Terry with 872 cans and 2nd place is Mrs. Vrabel with 721 cans. Both home rooms will receive a pizza party.

8th Grade score was 37-7.

National Junior Honor Society
The following activities are planned for the rest of the school year. Each member is required to participate in at least 4 of the activities with an * and must participate in #8 and 9 in order to participate in the fun day activity that will be at the end of the school year.
1. *Nursing home drive - Nov. 8 - 18 In order to participate in the nursing home visits you must bring items for the bags.
2. *Make teacher gifts for Christmas. These will be made after school one afternoon.
3. *Gift wrap night (more info later).
4. *Sell candy grams for February 14. This will be done during lunch shifts.
5. *Crush activity (more info later).
6. *Stuffed Animal drive (more info later).
7. *Bake sale (more info later) We will sell baked goods during lunch shifts.

8. Teacher Appreciation ($5.00 gift and lunch items) This will be in the spring.
9. Induction - (punch & cookies - in the spring)

Nursing home visits will begin Nov. 15. Participation lists will be based on students who have paid their $10.00 dues and have brought their items for the nursing home drive.
NURSING HOME SUPPLY LIST
To participate in the Nursing Home Visit students must bring at least 5 items to turn in. Goodie bags will be made to deliver to the nursing home residents each month. These are to be individual or sample size items.
Socks, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Lotion, Soap, Playing cards, Large print word finds/crosswords, Greeting cards, small tissue packs, other appropriate items

Great job 7th Grade Lady Colonel Basketball Team in Your Defeat of Ruston 32 - 30.
Leading Scorers were Savannah Dollar with 16 and Brooke Boney with 12. It was a great team effort by everyone.
8th Grade played hard. Keep up the good work. We are proud of you even in defeat.

Both 7th and 8th grade boys defeated Calhoun last night.
7th grade score was 32-19. Paul Turner led all players with 10 pts.

8th grade won 43-23. Wayne Hendricks scored 12 pts.
Colonels are at home this Thursday against Ruston.

WAY TO GO LADY COLONELS!
The Lady Colonels defeated Calhoun in both the 7th and 8th grade games.
7th Grade Score 39-27. Leading scorers were Savannah Dollar with 18 and Brooke Boney with 13.
Most Assists of the Night was Brooke Boney.

8th Grade Score 44-15. Leading scorer was Savannah Dollar.
Best Defensive Player of the Night - Kate Durham.
