Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

Girls soccer players should have their wind suit forms turned in by the end of 1st period. If you have not - please bring down during homeroom to Coach Long.

This morning is deadline for ordering Good Hope Athletic Sweat Shirts. Please have order in by 9:30.

8th grade boys basketball team beat Woodlawn 48-28 last night. Mario Wiley was the leading scorer with 20 points. Come see the Colonels Thurs. as they host the Mangham Dragons.

Students don't forget - Turkey feathers go on sale today at lunch for 25 cents.

National Honor Society Members - If you are participating in Operation Christmas-Child, please plan to stay after school this Thursday, Nov 13th until 3:30. Any member who would still like to participate and earn 10 service points needs to see Mrs. Epps or Mrs. Bayles as soon as possible.

The canned food drive begins today. This is a student council project to support the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. A class officer will come each morning to all homerooms to collect the cans. Points will be given and the winning homeroom gets a pizza party. Points will be given as follows:
1 can = 1 pt.
50 cent donation = 1 pt.
Can drop-off points are: Sellar - 6th
Moody - 7th
Holzer - 8th
Please support this project.

No boys soccer practice today! Practice Tuesday after school.

Feathers for teachers will start tomorrow! Cheerleaders will be selling feathers for 25 cents during both lunch shifts. Buy feathers for your teacher's turkey. Don't leave any turkey bald.

A big thank you to the five brave souls who were in the dunking booth on Saturday - Mrs. Noel, Mrs. Tyson, Coach Gill, Ms. Cole, and Mrs. Dillingham.

The following students have been recognized for exhibiting good character by demonstrating the character counts pillar of caring.
6th grade - Jesse Butler for always being eager to help.
6th grade - Isaac Newman for sharing his turn in an activity with someone else.
7th grade - Kaleb Epinnette for being so polite and considerate and recently helped clean desks in Mrs. Harris's classroom.
7th grade - Kelsie Thornhill for helping another student with a class assignment.
8th grade - Damien Bice for passing out journals in Mrs. Bayles's class without being asked.
8th grade - Matthew Murphy for helping Mrs. Williams pick up papers off the floor while other chose to walk over them.

Pep Squad (blue Team) will cheer at the basketball game tonight from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

There will be a 4-H Club meeting Thursday after school until 3:30.

The Can Food Drive starts Monday. Bring your can goods to your homeroom teacher and the winning homeroom will receive a pizza party. Thanks from the Student Council.

Tomorrow is the last day to place your order for a basketball T-shirt. Give the order form to your P.E. teacher.

Good Hope's annual Family Fun Day will be held this Saturday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. There will be lots of games and prizes and good food. Please encourage your family to come join the fun on Saturday.

Pep Squad Practice - tomorrow Wednesday 3:00 - 4:30. Not 4:00 but 4:30!

Students of the Month for November are: Kristen Murrell, Tommy Block, Matt Rice, Lacey Bush, Ashley Warden, Corey Spraberry, Wayne Hendricks, Laundi Freeman, Wesley Wheelis, Madelyn Caldwell, Adela Bailey, and Cameron Mahoney.

Can Food Drive will start Monday. Cans will be collected in homeroom. The homeroom that collects the most cans will win a pizza party.

National Honor Society will meet tomorrow Wednesday at 12:25 in the library. All members need to attend. This is an important meeting.

The Lady Colonels soccer team defeated Ouachita 3 to 2 last night. Goals for the Lady Colonels were scored by Emily Hemphill, Abbey Evans, and Alison Cooke. The boys and girls soccer team play Lee Thursday at Lee.

Congratulations to the 8th grade boys basketball team for their victory over Calhoun 38-28. Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you Thursday at home against Ruston. Shelby Aulds led all scorers with 13 points.

Congratulations to these studets. Special thanks to the P.E. teachers for taking care of this contest.

Congratulations to the following Colonel Choir members on their selection to the ACDA Southern Division Honor Choir. These students submitted audition tapes and were selected from over 1,000 entries. They will travel to Nashville in February for a clinic and concert. Those chosen are: Iris Tuttle, Brianna Saadat, Mallory Debnam, Shane Runnels, Brandon Bowman, Dex Poindexter, Daniel Dupuy, and Daniel Zeagler. Way to go, Colonels!

Tomorrow is "Hunt For Drug-Free Facts" at Good Hope.
Wear your camouflage for Red Ribbon Week.
We would like to thank Dr. Bob Webber, Superintendent of Ouachita Parish for the message he brought the students this morning encouraging them to stay drug free.

Keep working on your Scavenger Hunt - all answers have now been revealed. Turn your finished sheets in by Friday morning at 8:00. The box is in the main office.

Peak Performance is having an individual running meet, Saturday November 1. See Mrs. Strickland for more information.

National Honor Society Members - Our Nursing Home Supply Drive will end Friday Oct. 31. Please don't forget this is one way to earn service points. 8th graders take your items to Mrs. Bayles. 7th graders take your items to Mrs. Epps.

Students - unless you have a hall pass you are not to be in the halls in the morning. You will be put in detention if you are caught in the halls.

Tomorrow is "Team Up Against Drugs" at GHMS. Wear your favorite team shirt for Red Ribbon Week. Thanks to Brandon Banks for speaking to the students this morning about the importance of staying drug-free.

Congratulations to Blake McGowen for making the 8th grade boys basketball team. Teachers, please add Blake to your list.

Don't forget candy grams are on sale today and tomorrow in the lobby at lunch. Thanks, Student Council.

We're celebrating National Red Ribbon Week in the school library, too. Remember, students, there are lots of great things to do instead of drugs - Play a sport, Draw a picture, Visit with friends, Start a hobby, Play an Instrument, and READ A BOOK!

Come to the library this week to check out a good book and to enter our "Be Drug Free" candy contest. When you check out a book you will receive a form to enter the contest. Just sign your name and drop it in the box. The prize is a one pound bag of red strawberry Twizzlers candy. So, stop by the library during the week to join the fun... AND remember... we're not falling for drugs!
