Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

Congratulations to the 8th grade boys basketball team on their victory against Riser 43-39. Decorey Slater led all scorers with 13 points, but the win was a team effort. Come watch the Colonels play West Ridge tonight at the Calhoun Tournament.

Coach Creech, Coach Brothers, Coach Butler and Coach Crew would like to thank the faculty, staff, and students for their support during this year's basketball season. The teams will be playing tonight in the Calhoun Tournament.

CiCi's Pizza and Good Hope Middle School Pizza NightTonight, January 27th is Good Hope Night at CiCi's Pizza! Students, parents, faculty, staff and their families are invited to come to CiCi's Pizza to help earn a 10% cash rebate on all Good Hope School receipts. Don't forget to mention Good Hope at the register.

TEACHERS
Please turn in Who's Who nominations to Ms. Sellar on or before Jan. 29.

Please change the February date for the visit to Landmark Nursing Home for National Honor Society from Feb. 5th to Feb. 25th.

GO COLONELS!!! BEAT RISER!!!!

Pep Squad - Red Team will cheer tonight at the basketball game 6 to 8.

The following students have been recognized for demonstrating the "Character Counts" pillar for "Outstanding Citizenship".

6th grade:
Ashley Singleton for turning in a ring she found.
Phillip Zeagler for always demonstrating good citizenship.
Ali McCandlish for always demonstrating good citizenship.
7th grade:
Will Bryan for turning in something he found that was lost by another student.
Breanna Wilson for turning in money she found on the bus.
8th grade:
Cody Knox for turning in a watch that had been left in the computer lab.

Congratulations to all the Talent Show participants on an outstanding job yesterday. The results from last night's competition are as follows:
Vocal Division:
1st place: Ashley Singleton & Haylie Boone with "What Dreams are Made Of"
Dance Division:
1st place: Kemper Block, Caroline Milford, & Emily Ballew with "Heartburn"
Skit Division:
1st place: Shelby Smith, Taylor Ainsworth, and Michelle Stratton with "Up"
A very special thank you to all of our teachers and 8th grade cheerleaders for their participation in the Talent Show. Way to go, Colonels!

Colonel Choir will be selling Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies for $1.00 during lunch next week.

Congratulations to the Lady Colonel's Basketball team on their victory over Richwood.

REPORT CARDS GO HOME TODAY!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Good Hope 7th and 8th grade band members for doing a fantastic job at the District Honor Band Try-outs on Saturday! We have 68 Good Hope students that were selected to be in the Honor Band!!! These students will rehearse and perform with the Honor Band on January 30th - 31st at West Ouachita High School.
We are proud of you!!!

There will be talent show rehearsals today from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

The following students have been recognized for exhibiting Good Character. They have demonstrated the Character Counts pillar for "OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP".

6th Grade: Billy Paddie for helping a fellow student out who was hurt.
6th Grade: Chris Harper for helping a fellow student out who was hurt.
8th Grade: Michael Hammitt - he stays after school each day and helps clean the room.

Pep Squad - There will be a home basketball game tomorrow against Ouachita. The Blue Team will cheer from 6 - 8.

Today begins the fourth six weeks of the school year. Our Character Counts Triat for this six weeks is Citizenship. In order to be a good citizen the individual should care about his environment and his fellow students. A good citizen should obey school rules, help others and take care of property. Teachers, please begin watching for students showing the characterics of being a good citizen.

Matthew Brister has been recognized for demonstrating trustworthiness for turning in a purse he found.

Congratulatins to the 8th grade girl's basketball team on their FIRST PLACE finish in the Woodlawn Tournament.. They defeated Riser 35-34.

The 7th grade girls finished 2nd in the tournament.

WAY TO GO LADY COLONELS!!!

Congratulations to the Colonel Choir members that have been selected for the District 1 Honor Choir. Auditions were held Saturday and 39 7th and 8th graders were selected for the Jr. High choir, while 11 6th graders were selected for the Elementary Honor Choir for a total of 50 Good Hope Students! Good Hope will have more students in this choir than any other middle school. These students will perform with others from North Louisiana on February 7th at ULM. Way to go, Colonels!

ATTENDANCE COUNTS

We, at Good Hope Middle School, believe that being in school each day is the first step to a successful education. During the third six weeks, students were encouraged to attend school every day. The name of each child who achieved this goal was placed in a drawing for one of three CD players. The winners for the third six weeks were:
6th Grade - Eric Whitehead
7th Grade - Chris Autin
8th Grade - Ellen Nugent

Beginning Monday, January 12th, a new six weeks begins. Please encourage your child to attend school every day!


Congratulations to all our participants in the GHMS Geography Bee. We started with over 200 students who took the qualifying test and the Top 30 competed yesterday in the finals. We want to congratulate our winners:
1st place - Lacy Brooks
2nd place - Jordan Ellis
3rd place - Quentin Henry


Congratulations to the Colonels and Lady Colonels on their victories over Mangham yesterday!
7th grade girls score was 34 to 8 and 8th grade girls score was 21 to 29! Way to go Lady Colonels!

Girls play tonight at 4:00 and 6:00 in the finals of the Woodlawn Tournament. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Monday is the last day to audition for the Talent Show. Come by the Choir Room to sign up for a time. Auditions will be from 3:00 to 5:00. The Talent Show will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22.

STUDENTS - DON'T FORGET THAT WE ARE GIVING AWAY 2 CD PLAYERS FOR PERFECT ATTENDANCE THIS SIX WEEKS. THIS WILL BE DONE ON FRIDAY!

There will be no 4-H club meeting after school this month. Mrs. Hogg will let you know when the newsletters arrive.

Reminder - The National Geography Bee will be tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 8th. The "Top 30" participants will be called to the cafeteria after announcements. Remember parents are welcome to attend.
