Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

Each year Good Hope Middle School selects a group of students that represent the best in academics, character, and leadership. These students are nominated and elected by the Faculty and Staff and are recognized in the yearbook and honored at a luncheon. The 2003-2004 Who's Who Students at Good Hope Middle School are:

6th grade girls track tryouts will be Tuesday after school from 3:00 to 4:30. 7th grade will be Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:30 and 8th grade Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30. Please wear your P.E. uniform; however if the weather is cold you can wear sweats.
Come ready to run.

Th GHMS Jr. National Honor Society will be selling candy-grams next Tuesday, Wed., and Thurs., (Feb. 10th, 11th, & 12th) inside by the gym during both lunch shifts. Candy-grams cost 50 cents and will be delivered on Friday, Feb. 13th during homeroom. Start saving your money now so you can surprise that special someone with a candy-gram next Friday.

DON'T MISS THE 2004 DAY OF CHAMPIONS (NORTHEAST LOUISIANA FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES)
The 2004 Day of Champions will be held Saturday March 13th at the ULM Activity Center. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $3.00 per person. Food! Drinks! Games! Fun!
Registration deadline is Thursday, March 4th.

The Library's Kick Off Program for the Magazine Fundraiser will be on Monday, Feb. 9th,

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!

Girls interested in trying out for the track team, please sign up today during your physical education class.

Teachers will be handing out packets for National Honor Society during first hour. Any student who thinks they have a cumulative 3.5 or above and did not receive a packet needs to ask their homeroom teacher to check. Students make sure you take your packet home.

Cheerleader tryouts for WMHS will be March 25-27th. Packets will be available Monday (2-9) at WMHS and due back in by March 1st.

8th Grade girls interested in trying out for WMHS Rebel Line can pick up the information starting today in the Main Office at the High School. All sign up sheets will be due back to WMHS by February 19th.

The following students have been recognized for demonstrating GOOD CHARACTER Under the Character Counts pillar for "OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP".

6th Grade
Haylie Boone for her positive attitude toward others.
Morgan Halley for always demonstrating outstanding citizenship.

7th Grade
Moustafa Elsayed for helping a young lady in the hall pick up her books and for turning in a jacket he found in the hall.
Beth Coats for turning in a ring that she found.

8th Grade
Chris Pleasant for assisting a student on crutches.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 8th grade girls basketball team on their 1st place finish in the consolation division of the Calhoun Tournament. They defeated Woodlawn 29-6. Also, Coach Creech and Coach Butler would like to commend them for all of their hard work which resulted in a winning season. Way to go Girls.

8th grade boys track tryouts Tuesday February 3rd after school. Be prepared for cold weather and ready to run. Practice is 3:30 - 4:30.
8th grade only!!

CONGRATULATIONS to the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball team for defeating Woodlawn and finishing 1st place in the consolation bracket. Thanks for a wonderful year. Coach Brothers and Coach Crew.

Colonel Choir will be selling Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies at lunch today. Bring your $1 and get ready for those huge chocolate chunks.

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls on their 26-13 victory over Westridge. They will play in the finals of the Calhoun tournament on Friday.

Any student wishing to tryout for the Good Hope Middle School Golf Team needs to sign up and get an information slip from your P.E. teacher beginning today through Friday. Friday will be the deadline for signing up to tryout. If you have any questions see Coach Crew at lunch time or after school today.

TEACHERS
All teachers must come by and sign off on the School Improvement Plan in Mrs. Dampier's office.

Congratulations to the 8th grade boys basketball team on their victory against Riser 43-39. Decorey Slater led all scorers with 13 points, but the win was a team effort. Come watch the Colonels play West Ridge tonight at the Calhoun Tournament.

Coach Creech, Coach Brothers, Coach Butler and Coach Crew would like to thank the faculty, staff, and students for their support during this year's basketball season. The teams will be playing tonight in the Calhoun Tournament.

CiCi's Pizza and Good Hope Middle School Pizza NightTonight, January 27th is Good Hope Night at CiCi's Pizza! Students, parents, faculty, staff and their families are invited to come to CiCi's Pizza to help earn a 10% cash rebate on all Good Hope School receipts. Don't forget to mention Good Hope at the register.

Please change the February date for the visit to Landmark Nursing Home for National Honor Society from Feb. 5th to Feb. 25th.

Pep Squad - Red Team will cheer tonight at the basketball game 6 to 8.
