Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

Boys and Girls Soccer Tryouts are Wednesday and Friday after school until 4:20.

Softball tryouts will be Saturday morning October 25th @ 9:00 a.m.

Change the Nov. 20 Riser basketball game to Away and the Jan. 26 Riser game to Home or see Coach Brothers for another schedule.

Reminder - Student Council homeroom representative elections will be held in each homeroom tomorrow.

Boys soccer tryouts will be held this Wednesday and Friday, Oct. 8 and 10 after school. Boys interested in trying out need to sign up with Coach Long during their P.E. class by lunch on Wednesday. All boys must have a 1.5 grade point average to be eligible. Tryouts should last until about 4:15 - 4:20 each day.
Have your ride here on time to pick you up.

Teachers - Please be sure you calculate the GPA's on your report cards and fill out the National Honor Society Sheets before report cards go home. Please return your GPA reports to Mrs. Bayles 8th grade and Mrs. Epps 7th grade as soon as possible.

OPEN HOUSE - REPORT CARD PICK UP WILL BE TOMORROW NIGHT @ 6:30p.m.

Congratulations to the following 6th grade Colonel Choir members on the selection to the ACDA All State Choir. They will perform in Baton Rouge with 150 other singers from across the state. Those chosen are: Ali McCandlish, Iris Tuttle, Eric Whitehead, Taylor Ainsworth, Hannah Blakeney, and Miranda Davis. Way to go, Colonels!

Reminder - All overdue books must be returned to the library and all fines must be paid by Tuedsay Oct. 7 in order to receive your report card. Please take care of this by in the morning.

Cross Country will meet at GHMS at 7:30 a.m. to go to the meet at Cedar Creek - Saturday morning.

Students - Remember Monday is the deadline for turning in GROUP PERMISSION FORMS.

There is still time to get your recipes to Mrs. Hogg. The deadline has been extended until October 17. Please bring as many recipes as you can for the Good Hope cookbook that will be on sale in the spring.

Any student wishing to run for student council homeroom representative needs to get a form from their homeroom teacher. Elections will be held Thursday, October 9th during homeroom. Teachers if you need extra forms see Mrs. Moody.

Remember - GO VOTE SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!

GO COLONELS!!!!! BEAT OUACHITA!!!!!!

Reminder - For the game tonight - Pep Squad needs to be in the stands by 6 p.m.

4-H Club will meet Thursday after school from 3:00 - 3:30 in Mrs. Hogg's room (#102). Please make sure you have a ride at 3:30 sharp.

All overdue books must be returned to the library and all fines must be paid by Tuesday Oct. 7 in order to receive your report card. Please take care of this ASAP!!!!

Teachers - Please turn in your verification sheets to the counselors if you have not already done so. If you have no changes, write "no changes" on your sheets and return them to the counselors to keep on file.

Teachers - Don't forget tomorrow is the BBQ lunch - If you have not paid, please do so this afternoon.

Remember FCS/FCA tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. Our own Jacob McGowen will be the guest speaker.

8th graders - You can still bring your permission slips in the morning. Also, teachers - the students can not have had a Behavior Referral for this Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday in order to attend.

Catch That Colonel Spirit T-Shirts have been delayed one day. The shirts will be in tomorrow.

West Monroe High School is hosting a 50th anniversary and homecoming parade tonight at 6:30. The parade will begin at First Baptist Church and go down Trenton Street and N. 7th Street. It will end at the stadium for a pep rally. Good Hope cheerleaders and drill team will be a part of this celebration. Please come out and support.

Officer outlines are still available for any member who would like to run for officer.

Congratulations to the girls Cross Country team. They finished 4th overall and Tyleshia Outley finished 2nd overall at the Caney Creek Lake/Weston High School Classic.

Everyone is invited to attend the Colonel Choir Solo & Ensemble Recital tonight at 6:45 in the cafeteria. On Friday, choir members performed for a judge and received ratings. All 34 entries received a division 1 Superior rating or a Division 2 Excellent rating. Tonight, the contestants will perform and receive their trophies and certificates. Congratulations on your hard work!

Teachers - Angels of Mercy will host a Barbeque plate lunch fundraiser on Thursday Oct. 2, 2003. The plates will sell for $6.00 each. Orders of 10 or more are needed for delivery. There is a sign up sheet in the workroom.

Student Council Elections

Friday Sept. 26th Students will meet in gym to listen to speeches, then go back to that period class to vote. Teachers will tally votes.
6th grade - 5th period
7th grade - 6th period
8th grade - 7th period

Today is the last day for "Change the World" Campaign. If you have not already contributed, please do so today. If every Good Hope student and teacher dropped a quarter in, we would have $175 to contribute this Friday night at the West Monroe/Ruston football game. Remember, $100 will feed a senior citizen for a year.

The Lady Colonels soccer team would like to challenge all other teams, support groups, and organizations in the canned food drive. Canned goods are to be taken to the Rebel football game Friday night. Ask your sponsor or coach for more details.
