Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2004 Good Hope Middle School Golf Team. The members are:
Bradley Brown, Levi Howard, Jordan Sellar, Grant Shepard, Wesley Wheelis, Mario Wiley, Jacob Williams

1st year Pep Squad members must return uniforms. The uniforms are rented and property of Good Hope Middle School. Therefore, you must pick up a "Returning Uniform" letter from Mrs. Moody or Mrs. Dean.

Our character counts trait that staff members will be looking for in the fifth six weeks will be RESPECT. Respect is defined as being decent or correct in conduct; to consider worthy of high regard. Staff members - please be on the lookout for children that exhibit the character counts trait of respect.

Teachers - Grade Sheets are due back to the counselors by 8:00 a.m. this Thursday Feb. 26.

This will be the last week for the 8th grade after school tutoring program. Students, be sure to attend the last two sessions this week on Tuesday and Thursday.

Who's Who pictures are in. All Who's Who Students need to pick up their proofs from Ms. Sellar today. Picture money is due Friday.

Class favorites need to turn in their forms and money to Ms. Sellar today.

Attention, Students who have earned a 4.0 GPA for the first 3 six weeks: Tomorrow (Tuesday Feb. 24) GHMS PALS will treat you to a pizza party at 2:00 in the cafeteria. You will receive a party invitation in your homeroom Tuesday Morning. STUDENTS, YOU MUST BRING YOUR INVITATION WITH YOU TO BE ADMITTED TO THE PIZZA PARTY. Students who are nominated for National Honor Society must turn in completed applications and citizenship paragraphs no later than Friday, Feb. 20th in order to be considered for membership. No late applications will be accepted.

Please come support our softball team today at 4:00. We play Westridge at Westridge.

Remember that tomorrow - Friday - is our last turn in day for magazine orders. Please support our library fund raiser by asking your family to renew or buy magazines from our school. You can earn some great prizes for yourself!

Teachers and students - Don't forget today starts our Penny Drive for our Relay for Life Team! Let's bring lots of pennies. Also, we have the in memory of and in honor of cards for sale in the office for $1.00 each.

The 8th grade boys basketball team will play Riser today at 5:30 p.m at W.M.H.S. gym. All players need to see Coach Brothers during their P.E. hour.

February 16-21 is Literacy Week in Ouachita Parish with dedication to the goal of literacy for all. Everyone in the Ouachita Parish School System has been asked to support "Literacy Day" by participating in "The Great Louisiana Read-In" Tuesday through Friday. To participate Wear Red and take ten (10) minutes out of your schedule to read for enjoyment from 10:00 - 10:10 a.m. each morning.

WELCOME TEAM IMPACT!!!

We will have a Penny Drive beginning Tuesday that will run through Feb. 27th. If each of our Homerooms could fill just one milk jug with pennies, we could raise around $1500.00 for our Relay For Life Team! Let's show them just how good Good Hope really is! Be listening for more upcoming "fun" raisers!

Tuesday, February 17th is Good Hope Night at CiCi's Pizza! Don't forget to mention Good Hope at our register! Help Good Hope School earn a 10% cash rebate on all school receipts.

The Louisiana Reading Association is seeking to promote reading as the most fundamental and important aspect of our educational experience.
We support LRA's efforts to celebrate literacy awareness by declaring Tuesday, February 17, 2004, as "THE GREAT LOUISIANA READ-IN." To participate in this statewide celebration we encourage all school personnel to participate in D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) time from 10:00 to 10:10 a.m. on February 17. At 10:00 a.m. the school bell will ring to remind everyone to participate in D.E.A.R. for 10 minutes. This will continue throughout the week.

Good Hope Middle School is participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life! We are selling "In Memory or In Honor" cards in the office for $1.00 each. If you have lost a loved one to cancer or if you know someone that has survived cancer, please come by the office and purchase a card. We will post these in the office.

Mrs. Paul and her art students will be doing face painting during both lunch shifts tomorrow (Friday) for Valentines Day. Cost is 50 cents.

Softball pitchers and catchers stay after school until 4:00 today. All players need to be at Riser on Saturday morning at 10:15.

7th and 8th grade girls track try-outs will be today from 3-4:30.

Any 8th grade girl interested in trying out for 9th grade cheerleader at West Monroe High School can come by Mrs. Moody's room to pick up a packet.
