Week of March 29-April 1

English
No DOL this week.
We are writing a comparision/contrast paper comparing
characters in a movie. We will be taking notes on
Tuesday and Wednesday and making a Venn diagram and
writing our rough draft on Thursday and Friday.
The final draft will be typed after the Spring
holdiday.

Advanced English
No DOL this week.
We are completing our monument project and working
on prepositional phrases(modifying nouns or verbs).
No big tests this week.

Week of March 21-24

English
DOL Week 25- Write and study sentences each night.
Test on Thursday.
Adverbs- We will complete unit 13 this week, and
we will take a simple test on Thursday. Text book
pages 359-377 and workbook pages 143-148
Students should complete their idiom project that we
started last week. They should be turned in by
Wednesday.

Advanced English
DOL Week 25- Write and study sentences each night.
Test on Thursday.

We will begin our unit on prepositions this week-
Text book pages 380-385 and workbook pages
149-154.

We will also complete the monument projects that we
started last week. The oral presentation will be
on Thursday. The oral presentation should last
less than 1 minute- you should tell what your
project is, why you chose this project, where you
will place it, and what it will be made from.

Week of March 7-11

English/Advanced English

We will be working on Test taking skills and practice
again this week.
We will finish typing our ?Life in the Future? essay
and complete our Louisiana Pass site work on
Thursday.

DOL Week 24 will be completed in class this week and
we will test on Friday.

Please encourage your child to pay attention to all
test tips as they are discussed in class.

We need your child to try to complete the IOWA test to
the best of his/her ability.

Week of February 28-March 4, 2005

English
DOL Week 23- write and study sentences.
3rd Hour will take test on Thursday- others will
take test on Friday.

We will be working on writing a paper on Life in
the Future and the Louisiana PASS site. We will
also be working on ITBS practice material-this will
be a review of the year's work.

Advanced English
DOL Week 22-23- write and study sentences.
Test will be on Thursday.

We will be working on writing a paper on Life in

We will be finishing our comparison/ contrast paper
on two characters. Final drafts will be due by next

Advanced English
DOL Week 22-Write and study sentences.
(No test this week.)
We will write an expository `paper' evaluating
the actions of a character. We will take notes
while watching a movie in class. We will
use comparison and contrast to show differences
between characters. Notes should include
information about the character and how he
interacts with others, what his actions
signify, and how his actions affect others.
We will write a rough draft in class on
Thursday. We will proof the rough draft on
Friday and the final draft will be due on
March 4. This may be typed or hand written- it
must be double spaced
and neat.
