Kinds of sentences

1. A sentence is a group of words that expresses
a complete thought.
2. A complete sentence is a group of words that has a
subject, a verb, and expresses a complete thought.
A complete sentence should also begin with a
capital letter and end with an end mark.
3. A declarative sentence makes a statement or tells
something. It ends with a period.
4. An interrogative sentence asks something. It ends
with a question mark.
5. An exclamatory sentence shows strong feeling. It
ends with an exclamation point.
6. An imperative sentence commands someone to do
something. It usually ends with a period.

Awards day is May 20, 2005
Finals are May 23-25
May 23- Math and Lang. Arts finals
May 24- English, Social Studies and Elective finals
May 25- Science and P.E. finals

Students need to complete and turn in any unfinished
assignments A.S.A.P.

Final exemptions will be announced on Thursday,
May 19, 2005. Your child will receive an exemption
notice or a study guide.

Please encourage your child to be on his/her best
behavior- school is not over yet.

Week of May 9-17
6th Grade English
No DOL Test this week.

To finish up our school year and complete our
GLE requirements, we will be doing a final project
this year. Students have to come up with a craft
idea (ideas can range from jewelry, toys,
special food, sports items, etc) –
write the idea and/or draw a sketch of the craft.
The craft must be school appropriate.
They will then write a friendly letter to a
friend telling about the craft, and they will write
a business letter to a company trying to sell their craft.
We will have three grades for this project.
(project description, friendly letter, and business letter)
***Bonus points will be given if you bring in a
completed sample of the craft.
** Extra points will be given if your letters are typed.
All of these are due May 16-17.

6th Grade Advanced English
No DOL test this week
To finish up our school year and complete

write a How To paper, write a friendly letter
telling a friend about his/her craft idea, and
write a business letter to try to sell the craft.
The craft must be school appropriate, and

delivering the How To paper will be May 9 and 10.
The letters will be due by Friday, May 13.
