Good Hope Middle School Daily Announcements

Congratulations to the Lady Colonels Basketball Team on their performance in the State Roundball Classic. The 7th grade won 1st in the tournament by defeating Delhi 44-38 and Green Acres by a score of 33-24. Brandy Williams received the Most Valuable Player Award for the 7th grade.

The 8th grade Lady Colonels finished 3rd by defeating Crowville and Delhi. They lost a heart breaker by 1 point in the semi-finals to J.S. Clark. They then beat Pineville to win the 3rd place trophy.
Coach Creech and the faculty and staff of Good Hope would like to commend the girls on a great effort in the tournament.

Congratulations to the 2004-2005 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team on their victory over Richwood for 1st place in the Louisiana North/South State Classic on Saturday. The Colonels defeated A.E. Phillips on Thursday 45-22; they defeated Tioga(Pineville) 45-37 on Saturday; they defeated Richwood 47-36 for the championship. It was a total team effort. LaDarrin Williams was the MVP with 29 points, 19 rebounds, and 6 blocks. The Colonels finished the season 17-4.
The 8th grade boys defeated Red River on Saturday.
Congratulations on a great year 7th & 8th grade boys.

The annual library magazine fundraiser is underway.
This program is being offered to raise money for library books, computer software, and other library improvements. All students will benefit from the funds raised on the magazine sale. Order your favorite magazines from over 700 publications. Current subscriptions may also be renewed through this program. Thank you for your help and support on this magazine project!

The National Honor Society will be selling candy grams Tues., Wed., & Thurs. at lunch. Candy grams will be 50 cents. Buy your friend or favorite teacher a candygram to be delivered during homeroom on Monday, Feb. 14th.

The 7th grade boys basketball team defeated A.E. Phillips last night 45-22. It was a great team effort. The 8th grade plays Crowville tonight at 7:00 at Richwood. The 7th grade plays tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Richwood. GO COLONELS!!!!

LOUISIANA STATE ROUNDBALL CLASSIC - 8TH GRADE GIRLS
The Lady Colonels will play Friday, Feb. 4th @ 7:15 at Ouachita High School Gym # 2. Come out and watch the Lady Colonels play against Martin Jr. from Sicily Island.

Girls Track Tryouts have been rescheduled for Feb. 7th - Feb. 10th. (That's next Mon. - Thurs.)

Louisiana Northeast-Northwest Middle School Roundball Classic
7th Grade Boys will play A.E. Phillips at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3rd at St. Fredrick High School. The 8th Grade Boys will play Crowville Friday, Feb. 4th at 6 p.m. at St. Fredrick High. GO COLONELS!!!

No softball practice today due to weather. Plan to stay Thursday until 4:15.

Jump Rope for Heart will begin today, Jan. 31st.
The P.E. class that raises the most money will win a pizza party. Students will receive information for raising money during Coach Young's and Coach Gill's P.E. Classes. Let's all do our part to help raise money to give to the American Heart Association!!!

Congratulations to the following students who have been recognized for Good Character under the Character Counts Pillar of Responsibility.
6th Grade: Lacey Quinn & Levi Elliott

Students, give your heart to your favorite teachers. You can purchase a heart for your favorite teachers for only 25 cents during your lunch shift. The teacher with the most hearts posted on their classroom door will win a prize, so make sure your favorite teacher gets plenty of hearts this week. You can buy your hearts this week only during your lunch shift so don't forget!!!!

Any student interested in trying out for the Good Hope Middle School Golf Team needs to sign up and get an information sheet during PE classes today. This is open to both boys and girls, 6, 7, & 8 grades.

8th grade boys track tryouts will be Monday, Feb. 12th. Have P.E. uniforms and running shoes. Be prepared for cold weather.

No 6th & 7th grade track tryouts today.

No LEAP tutoring today after school. Tutoring will be tomorrow.

Due to bad weather, boys 6th & 7th grade track & field tryouts have been called off.
8th grade boys track & field tryouts will start Monday, February 7th.

8th Grade Students - There will be NO LEAP Tutoring on Monday, Jan. 31. There will be tutoring on Tuesday, Feb. 1st.

The Lady Colonel Basketball Team won their first round in the Calhoun Tournament.
7th grade defeated Woodlawn 22-6
Leading scorers - Brandy Williams & Kate Durham each with 6 points.
8th grade defeated Woodlawn 37-5
Leading scorers - Miranda Holt with 14 points and Whitney Moore with 11 points.
The Lady Colonels will play again Thursday in the Calhoun Tournament against Westridge.

7th Grade Boys defeated Woodlawn 39-6. Logan Dopson scored 12 points.
8th Grade Boys defeated Woodlawn 53-23. Chucky Glass scored 14 points and Jonas Tyson scored 11 points to lead the Colonels.
