Homework
Think about what you will include on your name poster tomorrow in class. You may bring markers,magazines, colored pencils, etc. to help you complete the activity. I will have the paper you will be using. This activity will be completed by the end of the class period and will be used to write a descriptive paper. Remeber, the name poster is used to describe you.

Writing Homework
Using the story beginning on p. 134 of your English text, find a specific detail for each of the following to demonstrate how the story is:
*a taste of historical truth
*precise as to agricultural detail
*precise as to ethnic background
*precise as to the weight of labor

Also, on a separate sheet of paper, write a one-paragraph description of your favorite season.

Test and writing assignment
All classes -- test Friday -- S,C,CX,C-CX -- follow the guidelines listed on Monday's homework

All classes -- Due Friday -- rough draft of the following topic: Write a 4-5 paragraph composition about your favorite sport. Be sure to include each type of sentence (S,C,CX,C-Cx)

Test papers for 2nd and 4th periods will go home on Friday because of the EXPLORE test being given tomorrow.

All classes -- test tomorrow

Be able to identify sentences, fragments, fused sentences, and comma splices. Be able to correct fused sentences, comma splices, and fragments.

A sentence contains a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought.
A fragment does not express a complete thought.
A run-on sentence is two or more sentences joined incorrectly.
The two types of run-ons are the comma splice (two or more sentences joined with only a comma) and the fused sentence ( two or more sentences with no punctuation between them).

Know the above definitions to write on the test.
